If it's to a server that starts with 8.254. If you use Wireshark (needs to be started as Admin!) you can look at the traffic. But you may want to do this check when subsequently your connection seems slow! Note that this may not always happen, so (probably) no need to check every time you stop watching or skip ahead in a VOD. (my local max is 15% of 100Mbit/s, for a 16Mbit/s DSL) for no reason - and then I discovered what I said above, I continued to receive the twitch video even though I had even killed the browser (Flash with it). If you don't use the Internet it should be close to zero. If at any point your Internet connection seems inexplicably sluggish, open the task manager again and see how much bandwidth is being used currently. Make a note of how high it is when you start watching a VOD (not sure if streams have the same issue). Go to the "Network" tab, on the bottom you can see the current utilization of your network connection.

If Wireshark is too alien a software for you, you can just press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to start the task manager. This issue is not limited to, I found similar reports (all without response, and nobody had really debugged it) for Chrome and video viewing, and one from enraged Bitdefender Firewall customers that sounded like the same issue. The port the stream sends video data to is in FIN_WAIT_2 state ("netstat -an") I debugged it, and using Wireshark I could see that even after killing Firefox as well as the Flash plugin I still received the video stream from the twitch server (I identified the IP of the server, it belongs to the servers used by ). I watch a VOD and when I want to switch to another, or want to jump ahead, suddenly you seem to have bandwidth issues. Problem is, if you are network savvy and use tools like Wireshark to have a look at what's going on you will notice that even though you stopped the video stream some time ago, maybe even closed the browser entirely, the stream continues! You receive data from the streaming server at max. You explain it to yourself that your ISP is just bad, maybe you curse but you know you can't do anything about that. You watch a video stream (but it could be happening with any kind of stream), and at some point your Internet connection seems sluggish. Anyone heard of this stuff? With that in place do you think I could get up near 1.I noticed this issue first on twitch and I believe it may be more widespread than people realize. When I've talked to the DSL company, they are apparently going to put in a signal booster 1 mile away from me (I am now 2.5 miles from the box), and they also suggested that I could purchase 2 accounts, and they would somehow tie them together and that might give me a little more speed (though apparently it doesn't double). For example, the text on the cards is even hard to read :(.īut the fact that I am only shooting to stream a very low demand game, combined with the fact that I can get a stream going makes me think this might be possible? And maybe someone who knows what they are doing with OBS/Twitch settings or even CPU or ISP wizards could squeeze me out a little more bandwidth and make this happen? But it's of such low quality that I fear no one would be able to watch. I am new to all these technologies so I'm sure that some ninja could help improve things, but when I tweak my OBS settings down way low I can get a stable looking stream going (I think it's about 320p 20 fps if I understand the settings).

The good(?) news: all I want to stream is Hearthstone, so as I understand it that is one of the least demanding games both for bandwidth to play it, and doesn't need to be premium quality video (just premium quality play :P) to stream it. Every satellite option I've found is limited data till they throttle you. 10 down and 0.8 up atm :\ on copper wire DSL. I live in a remote rural area, but I want to stream so bad! I've looked and looked and I can't find a better internet solution than I already have- and it ain't good.
